Ashley and Aaron are getting married this weekend, so no better time to put their engagement session up on the blog! We started our day out at the Craft Bar in Destin, where they first met, then to Aaron’s old apartment at the lake where they built a lot of great memories and finished off their Destin engagement session at the beach with the most gorgeous sunset.
How did you two meet? “We met at The Craft Bar in Destin and enjoyed a couple smoked old fashions, German pretzels and each other’s company.”
Because they met at the Craft Bar, they figured no better place to start off their engagement session than go back where it all began. Such a great idea!
How did he propose?
“My parents were in town as they just came back from vacation and they were picking up their dog from my sister in Niceville (she seems to be their long-term dog sitter). Aaron knew he wanted to propose then so he could ask my dad for permission in person, and I would be able to tell them we got engaged in person as well. Aaron and I had talked about getting married for a few months, but I didn’t anticipate it being that soon. Because I don’t like attention and our husky, Freya, is pretty much our main priority, Aaron proposed on our back porch with just the three of us. We then went out to dinner with my sister and parents and announced the news.” ~ Ashley
Ashley about Aaron: “My favorite thing about Aaron is his selflessness. He will do anything to help anyone out even if it means extra stress or less sleep for him. Just one example of this was when he went to a military course that was beyond mentally and physically excruciating and was sent home because of injuries he sustained. When I picked him up from the airport, I mentioned that one of our friends who’s husband was deployed and was selling their house tried to start her husband’s truck to move it to their new home but the truck wouldn’t start. Aaron, even though sleep deprived and injured, had us drive to her house, grabbed tools and tried fixing the truck. When he is home, he will do anything and everything to make sure my life is just a little bit easier, whether it’s making and packing me breakfast and lunch, doing the dishes, cleaning and doing laundry, literally anything he will do just to take it off of my plate since he isn’t home year-round.”
Aaron about Ashley: “I love her independence and intelligence. She has always been a strong and passionate woman that is truly devoted to those that she loves and since she has entered my life has given me an example to strive for. As if having a beautiful commitment to family wasn’t enough, she is always doing her part with trying to make the world a better place for homeless animals by volunteering every week to nurture them.”
Another engagement session you might enjoy.
